1 - What is Capella?

Capella is a website Content Management System (CMS). It allows you to edit, update and maintain the content of your own website with some extraordinary differences to many other Content Management Systems.

The Capella Difference 

Capella has a big difference over other website content management systems. Capella allows you to view and edit your website as though you were looking at it normally. No confusing interface that loads the information into another window and no need to know any technical jargon like HTML or CSS. You literally double click on the area of your site you want to change, and the toolbar appears to allow you to change it on the spot. 2 - Do I need any special software to use it?

All you need is an up-to-date web browser like Internet Explorer 6+ or FireFox 1.5+ and an Internet Connection. We recommend some type of broadband Internet Connection.

3 - How easy is Capella to use?

Capella is very easy to use. The beauty of Capella is it is suitable for users of varied experiences. Obviously it allows you to perform simple operations like adding images, adding, editing and formatting text, but it can also perform some very advanced tasks as well.

Editing your website using Capella is so easy, because while in edit mode you see your website just as it appears on the Internet and all you need to do is double click the region you wish to edit, and away you go. The toolbar will load, and you can modify the page live. Try our live demo here .

If you can use a programme like Microsoft's Word, then much of what Capella can do you will already be very familiar with. Check out the information about Capella's toolbar here. 4 - What if I destroy my website in some way?

No need to panic. In the unlikely event you do make a slight botch-up don't worry. Capella keeps an archive of previous versions that you can restore your website back to. You simply need to restore it back to the point before you made the botch-up.

5 - Who will be able to change my website?

You decide who and how many people can have access to alter your website. You can even restrict access to specific pages for certain users. This is great if you have several departments and only want to allow individual departments to have access to their own pages. The amount of users allowed to alter your site depend on the amount of licences purchased or the packaged deals you can choose from. Visit our Pricing & Licencing page for more information.

6 - If I don't like the changes I make, can I change them back again?

Yes you can. While editing you have the option of using the undo button on the toolbar, or you could completely restore your website to a previous version. Capella stores an archive of previous versions from the newly edited ones. 

7 - What does Capella cost to set up, and what are the ongoings?

8 - I already have a website, can I use Capella to edit my existing website?

Capella can be integrated into most existing websites, however there are a small percentage of websites that will be unable to use Capella because of their design. To find out if your website is compatible with Capella please contact us, include your website address and we will find out for you.

9 - Can I add new items to my website with Capella?

Absolutely! Capella allows you to add pretty much anything you need.

You can add the following: 

• Add new pages
• Add new navigation links
• Upload and add new images
• Upload Word documents, PDF documents, Spreadsheets, Flash Files plus more
• Add new links to pages within your site or link to other sites

10 - What if I don't already have a website, who does the initial design?

You can either:

1. Choose a design from the Capella LiveDesigns website
2. We can design a site for you.

Using the Capella system is very different from the budget (build your own) type systems. Capella allows you to make modifications to your site without affecting the original design. You cannot design your site with Capella, we suggest leaving that up to the professionals, but you can design the content (what appears inside the individual pages).

11 - I use a Mac - how will that effect me using Capella?  

Capella is compatible with your Mac using Firefox. Firefox is a free internet browser which can be downloaded from their website.
